I don't know if anyone will actually see this comment, but I just wanted you to know that my heart goes out to all the young men who answered the call of their country to go overseas to fight this conflict. I am a Desert Shield/Storm veteran, who although am not even remotely exposed to the discomforts Vietnam vets share, I do understand the feelings you have expressed. God bless you all, keep the faith, remember to pray, and don't worry.

Thank you very much for this website. This website yet again re-enforces the point that wars are never fought through ideologies, instead by people who have been unexpectedly been sucked into such a situation and i personally think History classes do not tell us about the emotional part of any war.
Like Stalin Said "One death is a tragedy, A million death is only a statistics"
History addresses such death in a very detached way.
I find that the Korean participation of the war is not reflected fully, for they too sacrificed many lives for their country and for South Vietnam.

I would like to thank all of the WWII, Korean, Vietnam, Gulf War, and Iraq Vets whom served OUR country as I work with alot of vets in the VA home here in Bristol, RI. I tried to become part of the USA military yet was denied because of back problems, although I would love to get in even being 29 years old. I do enjoy working closely with our The USA vets, and God Bless to all. I would love to someday devote all of my time and energy working with vets closely as they are part of living history. Dan B. I have been looking for information about my uncle. His name was Fred Michael Kerns. He went by Mike. He was in Vietnam from October 1968- July 1969. He was in HML-167. On July 29th, 1969 the plane he was on UH-1E Tail #152418 went down due to a compressor stall near the South China Harbor. He was on the plane with 3 other men. 1 survived. The two who perished along side my uncle were CPT Roger Parry Harrell and LCP Daniel Lewis, who was a member of the VMO-2 but had requested special permission to fly with the HML-167. My uncle spent every spare minute he had at the orphanages. He spent time at Sacred Heart in Da Nang and at China Beach Orphanage. He fell in love with a little girl around 6-7 years old named Hung or Hong. He had plans of adopting her and bringing her back to the US when his tour was over. However, he didnt make it back and our family lost all contact with her. She would be in her 40s now and I would love to be able to contact her. For some reason, my grandfather believes she is in the United States, but I am unsure. My grandparents used to send toys and clothes to the orphanages and when my uncle died, it tore our family apart. I am trying to mend some broken hearts with positive information about my uncle and basically just get some information for myself. My uncle died twenty years before I was born so all I know of him are stories, pictures, and letters. If anyone has any information about Gary Prewitt, another man who claimed to know my uncle on www.flyarmy.com in his Killed in Action report. He claimed he helped ID their bodies at the Charlie Med., the other men who perished with my uncle, the little orphan girl, or my uncle please email me rather than responding to this guestbook. I'd love any information. God Bless you all.
