I am 32-year old half-Vietnamese half-American girl whose American birth father (surname LEWIS) was American soldier in Cam Ranh Bay in 1971. LEWIS work in ARMY MESS HALL "down the hill" at Cam Ranh, his duties were supervise cooks, inventory/order food, plan menus, payroll. Is it possible you knew Mr. LEWIS at Cam Ranh? He left Vietnam Aug./Sept. 1971 to return home and I born 7 months later March 1972. He approx. 30 yrs old then (so would be approx. 67 year old now) medium height, weight, brown hair. He knew my mom (NHAN KIM HUYNH) pregnant and cry when he have to leave her. Mom lived in Cam Ranh Village and work as his typist at Mess Hall in My Ca.
Me, my mom & 2 sisters came to United States 1989 and we live in Tx. now. I married with 2 beautiful children.
Can you please tell me if you know how I find "Morning Reports" for Army personnel UNITS at Cam Ranh (I do not know Unit #, but transport drivers, cooks could possibly remember him). Without Unit # or Serial # I cannot extend my search.
If you can help me I appreciate it very much. I pray everyday for my father to be searching for me too. Thank you for any help you can give me.

i posted a note back in the fall explaining that i was in love with a vet who'd been a tunnel rat in nam and asking for any advice in dealing with this with him.
to all the wonderful guys who answered my note, i want to say i'm sorry if i didn't get back to you personally.
i was so happy when i was with jack, and at the time we were living in a nursing home (yeah, we met there, and fell in love--i'm gonna write a book, 'finding love in a nursing home' someday. LOL) and moved out and into an apartment together about two weeks later, and i didn't get the 'puter hooked up right away, so didn't pick up my email in a timely fashion.
plus, i just wanted to be with jack, and time on the 'puter was time away from him, soooo....
i wanted to let everyone know, jack died sunday nite. we had had eight months together from the first time we met, and i am bereft. i had so hoped for 20 or 30 years, but those eight months were the best time of my life and, i think, his too.
i've never loved anyone more than i loved jack, and i've never been happier. in nov he asked me to marry him. it was wonderful, but not important, really. what was important was that we loved each other and were together.
i'm sorry, i'm repeating myself here.
again, thank you to all who responded to me, forgive me for not getting back to you if i didn't. i did appreciate the words of wisdom from everyone who wrote. you're a great bunch of caring people. be there for each other.

My father in law is having some hard time finding his military records. They are said to have been involved in the fre of 1972 in St Louis. He told me that he served in Fort Lee and was in the vietnam war from 6 months. He finished out at the Army Reserves and retired a sergent 1st class. If anyone served with him he is very eager to talk and see you. and he appreciates any help on finding any proof of his military days. Thany you so much for your time
