I was on FB Gold with an infantry platoon of the 101st in late of '71. I was a voice intercept operator and copied messages from an NVA bn planning to overrun us on 4 July. Many airstrikes went in near the hill and the battalion was destroyed. If you have any information about the events in late June, early July '71 I would like to hear from you.

Great site, especially with the rise in interest concerning those of us who served in country. I was with Motor T-FLSG-A in DaNang and then Red Beach in 1966-67. Transferred to 2ndBn/3rdMarines in Dong Ha in 1967 and left country on the USS Bayfield. Assigned to 3rd FSR Okinawa until July of 1967 and then to 29 Palms.

I was just wondering if there is anyone who served with my father, Lyn Pompper. He doesn't talk much about it, but I believe he was 1st division, 5th regiment, 1st batallion of the Marines. He served in 1969 in An Hoa and at Liberty Bridge. I know he would love to hear from anyone who was there with him, so please email me.

I was a Marine with Charlie CUPP near LZ Ross. It was the CUPP furthest from Ross just across the small river. I was injured in a fire fight just before I was to rotate home. I never got to say goodby to my fellow Marines and friends, Mike Grimmer, Al, Tucker, Buzz, Sgt. Harris and John Kelly. If any of you read this please contact me via E-mail address listed. I would love to hear from you. Semper fi - John (Boo-Boo) Rumsey

I served with the Navy Civic Action Program in DaNang (Naval Support Activity & Naval Support Activity) from April 1969 to November 1970. Also a member of the Navy CAP unit for a short time. I was a SK3 in-charge of procuring all the supplies and services needed for over 100 Civic Action Projects, 85 men and 3 funds. Most of us lived in VAT Teams (Village Assistance Teams ) in and around the DaNang area with the civilian population. They usually were manned by 3 or more men and on some teams we also had a corpsman and surgical capabilities. It was probably the most dramatic, exciting and life changing experience I have ever been thru.

I love your site.
I am a daughter of a Vet. My father was killed in Vietnam in November of 1966 James W. Bruhn. I am also the mother of 2 children from Vietnam. My husband and I adopted our daughter and son who are so beautiful. We went there to get them so we got to visit the land that my father was killed in. I know it may sound weird but I believe with my father was watching over my two children before we got there. Vietnam is a beautiful country. Our daughter is from Hanoi we got her in July of 99 and our son is from Nha Trang we got him in February of 2003. Please let us know of any travels to Vietnam in 2006 or later we would appreciate it.

My name is Beatrice and I am trying to find anyone who may have known my brother while he served as a Marine (grunt?) in Vietnam. His name was John Arthur, he was actually killed in Los Angeles, not too long after returning from Vietnam. Initially when he was sent over he was what i would consider "ground fodder" and before he left for home he was piecing bodies together for body bags. Any and all information is much appreciated. All I know is he trained at MCRD and left from Camp Pendleton. My family would not discuss it and died before I could question anyone further. I want to know who may have spoken to him and what he may have been like. I know my father brutally abused him prior to forcing him to join the Marines and serve in Vietnam so perhaps he wasn't the friendliest of people? I wish to know more. Thanks muchly, Beatrice wheresmejumpa@gmail.com

SOME GAVE ALL

I knew a man called him Sandy Kane
Few folks even knew his name
But a hero -- was he
He left a boy, came back a man
Still many just don't understand
About the reasons -- we are free

I can't forget the look in his eyes
Or -- the tears he cries
As he said these words to me

All gave some and some gave all

And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties -- and recall

Some gave all

Now Sandy Kane is no longer here
But his words are oh so clear
As they echo through out our land
For all his friends who gave us all
Who stood the ground and took the fall
To help their fellow man

Love your country and live with pride
And don't forget -- those who died
America can't you see

All gave some and some gave all

And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties -- and recall

Some gave all

And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall, yes recall

Some gave all
Some gave all
