He passed away 6/25/93 from agent orange exposure induced Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. I did not know him as a Navy guy, we married in 1983. I have some great memories of his stories and he was a true veteran. THANKS TO ALL WHO SERVED in VietNam. God bless you each and every one.

Lately I've been obsess with learning about the war in Vietnam. The war in Vietnam has changed the many social stigmas and the mindsets of the free world. I came to Canada when I was 8 years old. My parents hated the communists and often mocked them. As I learn with all the readings available, I have concluded that communist was a catylast for the anti-cononial-revolutionary movements in Vietnam. As much as I hate communism ideology, anyone with dignity will rather be a comie in that circumstance than be subjected of foreign rulers! Anyways back to the subject, this site was very informative, and has a balanced perspectives from both sides. Many site on the net only gives bias informations such that of the Holywood's versions of the war in Vietnam.
It is ironic that I know very little about the country that I was born in and that many Americans knows much more. This web site have provided with me wonderful insights. Hopefully 1 day i'll go back.
Keep up the good work!

I am Vietnamese American, 33 years-old. I was born in Da Nang, but escaped during the fall of Saigon in 1975. I grew up in America, and became American in every individual-minded way, except that a part of me has found reconciliation with my cultural and historical past very difficult. As an artist, I have endeavored to uncover the truths of the Vietnam War in my work for the hopes of better understanding how I came here, as a product of this great human tragedy. I am saddened by our current attitudes in foreign policy for I do not see any growth from Vietnam. I do not feel the true lessons have been learned. I do not even think they are being addressed. Unfortunately, we do not value history enough in America, for we doom ourselves to repeat the "turbid ebb and flow of human misery." As an American, I wonder how much more pain would Manifest Destiny continue to inflict on every new generation. I am most appreciative of your site. I hope to be able to one day return to the land where my father lies, and where my mother's heart still grieves.
