hello all, i am the son of one of the many who fled the country for safety after the war. for better life and to put it another way, to be more selfis and ignorant...i have recently went back twice to vietnam, all the time i was back there, i could'nt help but feel very guity and very selfish. i live in england with not millions of £s but plentiful to eat, money to spend on usless objects and material things.basically taking everything for granted. since i've been back, for the past year, i have had these urges to help. i am willing to move back and live.settle in the country, adopt a child, help the community etc.
i am not trying to be a saint or a god etc. but just to try and be more kind and giving, just trying to think of ways of helping those in need(really in need)just trying to go against this ignorant and selfish society that we live, while some where else in this same world, there are suffering.
my two children are still young 3yrs & 5 yrs.
my wife agree with me but she stress that we lack funds.we need to look after ourselves befor we can help others. we are willing to help but dont know how exactly.
i would love advice from anyone who has ideas of how i could help those in need,
links to site for volunteers/charity
paid work such as teaching, translater etc
any useful information or relevant website would be of help.
god bless you all and let the past be the past but also remembering that we still have the after effect of the war to solve. i would just like to do my part but lack info. funds and resources. please help, thank you for your time

I'm really not sure why, but I am both proud and ashamed of my service in nam. I am very proud to have served in a USMC recon unit (force co. 1st recon batt. 1st mardiv) in danang & phu bai 67/68. I would have gave my life for my country at the time. Now looking back knowing what i know now, I am ashamed of the government that sent its young men, most mere boys to die in a god forsaken rice paddy or hill top for absolutly no real purpose! I love my country and totaly support all of our armed forces, but we need to stop fighting these (polititions wars) like Bushes killing our boys right now!! All just to keep the publics atten. off his inability locate and take out 1 man, ben ladin, shame on you president bush, do you sleep well at night? I don't have'nt since vietnam, GOD BLESS EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER OR EVER WILL SERVE OUR GREAT COUNTRY, GOD BLESS AMERICA, AND SEMPER FI FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!

was an Ordnance Captain assigned to a MACV team in Cu Chi in 1971/72. I had some bad experiences there and in a previous assignment in Thailand and Laos. I spent a LONG time getting all this out of my head. Now I am trying to get a handle around it. One of my problems is that I did such a good job of forgetting it I can’t remember the Team number. We were primarily a logistics advisory team to the 25th ARVN. We were commanded by a Colonel and were mostly logistics oriented to the 25th ARVN. We billeted in some of the sand bagged and sectioned Quonset huts of the old US 25th hospital buildings. Two men to a unit. The reason I am trying to put all this back together is that I am suffering effects from Agent Orange (let's here it for Tay Ninh province!). Do you know anywhere that I can find a listing of locations and team numbers?
I was also CO of HQ and Main Support Company, 7th Maintenance in Korat, Thailand where we went into Laos as civilians from Vientiane to do gun repair work on the west side of the Ho Chi Minh trail at SF and indigenous fire bases. Obviously there are no "records" of that and I am trying to find anybody who was with me there. The only name I can remember is George Fienne (no sure of spelling) who was an Engineering 03. Thank you for whatever help and advice.

God Bless all the Vets, those here and those who have passed on. I am the daughter of a Vietnam Veteran who passed away in 01. My dad is Billy Ray Blevins. He was stationed out of Fort Bliss in 65 and Fort Leonardwood in 63. I know he served 3 tours in Vietnam sometime between 60 and 66. He was in the Army and I believe he was a sergeant. My Mom says she was sewing those stripes on about every other week because he would lose them as fast as he got them. :) My dad was a good man and a great soldier and he truly cared for those he served with. I would love to correspond with anyone that knew my dad. My email is listed.

I am his wife writing this and hoping someone will remember my husband. This is what he tells me about where he was. I was located on LZ Hawk Hill with Headquarters Co. 196th Infantry. My job was to report KIA casualties to Division Htqrts, and prepare bodies for onward transport to Chu-lai. My nickname was "Phil" or "West Virginia Wildman". I was there from Jan. 1969 to Jan 1970. I would like to hear from anyone who remembers me. Dealing with KIA's day after day for a year has left me in bad shape. Please contact me at the web address or phone no# I left on this guestbook.
