I was stationed in Phu Loi Co A 1st AVN BN 1st INF DIV. From Dec. 66 - Nov. 67. I flew crew chief (door gunner) on Huey D models. Was with the 2nd Airlift Comancheros. Will email picture of our patch.
I'm not sure but believe we had the Big Red One ensigna on the nose and face of a bulldog on large doors. We might also have had Comancheros name or picture on aircraft. Also had my daughters nickname CASSY on aircraft. Do remember this or know of any one that may have been there during the times I was?
Thanks from a fellow Vet

This one may seem strange to some, but familiar to alot of soldiers and sailors from the Vietnam era. My Father served aboard the USS Chicago (CG-11) leaving port 13 May 1972 for Vietnam. During such time, his new bride (married 4 Jan. 1972) that he had only known since B- School (23 Aug. 1971- 25 Feb 1972) became pregnant while she was stationed at her post at one of Vellejo's Military Hospitals in July of 1972. My father did not return from his Sea Tour until late Aug- early Sept. His leave logs show he did not take any leave until September 1972 and then only 5 days. He took no other leave of duties until around the time my older brother was born, a full term child in April of 1973.
My mother's name was Sandra "Sandy" Boyd-Bancroft, and she was a Corpman in Vallejo, CA. She was 5'8" and curly brown hair with red highlights, and beautiful blue eyes. She hailed from Kansas, and played the innocent Kansas girl in the big City, real well. She was having trouble with the Head nurse, but found a friend in a soldier that came back without his lower legs. *she spoke of him and the Head Doctor Often which leads me to believe they May know who my brother's father is*
If anyone knows her, please contact me ASAP. My mother has not really been the most truthful of people so to speak, and my brother is really messed up, and I am trying to help him. My father, Richard loved him as if he were his own, but Sandra destroyed that for some reason. Please contact me!

I was there in 66/67 with B Trp 1/10 Cav. We built
base camp at tittie mtn. and then ran road patrol,
convoy escort and reactionary force. I have been
back in 2001 and 2006. We are planing on another
trip next year. I served with a great bunch of guys.
We loved each other and took care of each other.
I went back to Pleiku base camp and to
DaLat and Kontoom, you would'nt believe how much it has changed, and yet its still the same.
The Vietnam war was the most honorable
conflict we have been involved in lately. I'm
proud I served. It bothers me that we just gave up.
The vietnamese people still love us. The commies
were pretty hard on them. I still get ill at people
that were cowards and refused to serve saying
history proved them right. They are still cowards,
that is what history has proved. Sorry; I will get
off the grandstand. Welcome home guys. I hope
life has been as good to you as it was to me.

My dad William H. Shaughnessy was a SGT.He was an E-5 pay scale. He was an ASSAULT BREACHER OPERATOR. I looked it up for his military specialty. He did tell me that he
was one of the men that had to pick up dead bodies/parts.He is also suffering from PTSD.I am having some problems on some of the stuff he
told me....i have no clue how to look it up and where. He was a 3rd engineer for the 3rd division B-H-S.( Dont know what the B-H-S stands for).He
also told me that he was 5th marines division 1966-1967....3rd marines division 1968-1969......2nd marines division 1970-1971. Now as far as places go he gave me a list but never told me when he was there which makes it harder for me to find stuff. He was also wounded in nov 1968.How i am not sure but it wasnt bad enough for them to send him home. There are so many websites i have been on and i am just gettting totallylost. If you know of any websites that i may go to and hopefully find info i would appreciate it very much.I have alot of respect for what you guys
did over there.I wasnt born until 1973 so i just started to learn alot about that war.I would like to thank you so much for taking the time to talk to me.I have a picture of him and another man together from the war.He cannot remember who the other man is.I am trying to make a book for my dad with photos and all but all i have is this one picture. If anyone knows my dad or has any other pictures i would like to talk to you and/or get a copy of any pictures you may have.I greatly appreciate it.If you would like a copy of the picturee i have please e-mail me and i will be glad to send it to you.
